I think she's thinking about her sweetheart. He's on that ship, heading out to sea. He's in search of way to break the curse that has bound her to the island on which she lives so he can take her to his homeland and marry her.
Gorgeous pic! The mood is dark and beautiful, so the storyline would have to match. I think automatically of romance--especially forbidden romance--but also betrayal and perhaps a magical creature on the verge of appearing. A giant winged gryphon, an iridescent unicorn, a merman from the depths of the sea.

Awe. It makes me sad. She waiting for her Captain that will never come home :(
The first thing that I though when I read "Who is she waiting for?" is that she's waiting for a dragon . . . a blue one, of course. :)
I love this picture. Makes me want to write YA fantasy. Okay, technically I have, but it's temporarily (or permanently) shelved right now.
