Question of the Week - What did you want to be when you grew up?

When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a writer, an actress, a model, a paleontologist, a lawyer, a mommy, President of the US. Guess I didn't do to bad considering that I'm a writer and a mommy (and a chemist).

A writer. Then I went through my realistic phase and planned to be a rock star. During high school, I wanted to be an occupational therapist, until my guidance counselor told me I would never succeed in university. I have a MSc. Just no in occupational therapy. I unfortunately listened to the jerk and ended up doing something else. I wish I had had faith in myself sooner. But on the bright side, now I'm a writer. :D

I wanted to be a concert pianist, I had played the piano since the age od 2, had proper lessons and passed many examinations. The I became a teenager and the 60 era came on the scene I changed from classical music to modern, then I met the love of my life, married at 19 yrs, and had three children.
Now a widow I write poetry and enjoy it but I still regret giving up the piano playing though music is very much in my life.

Yvonne.

I know I wanted to be a vet for awhile. I think it lasted until I learned that you don't always get to save the animals. :(
That's pretty awesome that you are really doing a couple of the things you always wanted to do. :)

I wanted to be a teacher then an accountant that writes. But ended up doing the following, I'm an engineer now, was a college professor, owned a travel business, was a loan officer, and am now an engineer and author... go figure.

A doctor...then I realized I'm really disgusted by blood and puss. Good thing I figured that out before medical school, huh?

Bus driver, ballerina, biology teacher, doctor, geneticist, then after failing chemistry in college I returned to teacher. I was an English teacher for several years before doing what I really love: being a stay-at-home mommy and writer. :)

The first thing I can remember wanting to be was Miss Piggy. Obviously, there can only be one, so then I wanted to be a teacher, vet, lawyer, you name it. I never once wanted to be a writer, but I guess you don't know everything when you're a kid!

First thing I wanted to be was a Top Gun pilot. Then I got glasses and was told I can't fly. I turned to author. Working on that one. More lately than before, I think.

Glad you got to be some of what you wanted. I wanted to be a teacher. That came true, so then I had to start thinking of some other things I could do. I guess writing will do. :)

I wanted to be an archaeologist (almost), veterinarian (but I can never spell it correctly without spell check), an actress (almost), an opera singer (almost), a missionary (so glad I didn't do that one), and a paleontologist (still love dinosaurs). I had to wait to figure out what I really wanted to be: a writer!

I wanted to be a lawyer. Debating was very fun, so was being right a lot :-)

Then, after I watched Baby Boom, I wanted to be a business woman and get into marketing and advertising.

When real life hit, I enjoyed just being employed...and now being a writer.

I never thought about it much when I was little. I loved policemen so I wanted to be a cop for a while, but then in high school I wanted to be a lawyer 'til I focused on my real skills and changed that to an architect, which is what I became/ Never did I ever think of being a writer. I sure wish I had.

Hmmm...teacher, mom, engineer, singer, actress

would you believe that writer didn't even pop in my head until a year ago? haha. Guess it goes to show us that we can always be something different 'when we grow up' :)

I've always wanted to write, but I also wanted to be an actress as well, or a National Geographic photographer.

I wanted to be a ballerina and singer when I was very young. Then I wanted to be a fashion designer or playwright (because I had kids in daycare acting out my plays when I was 8) and then in 6th grade I landed on writing. I've been there since, and trying to figure out the day job :P College training points me at CRM (applied archaeology) or marketing. Haven't decided which I want more. Must admit, I'm more on the socio-cultural end of the anthro spectrum than archaeology, partially because cultural anthro inspires my writing :)
