I'm with you. I'm a Catholic and I don't think I could live with the guilt, either. Very provocative post. Definitely something that makes you go Hmmm... :)
Well, technically, if you've ever jay walked, sped, streamed a tv show or movie (and not on the maker's website), you've committed a crime =P
I guess you mean "big" ones though. Like murder, theft (physical and not digital), etc. Hm. Well, I guess if I could find a way to sneak through airports and board any plane in the world and go anywhere without that country's immigration caring, I would do that so I could freely travel the world.
Although I like the incriminating bait of this post =P
This is something I couldn't do either. But there is a mom at my kids' bus stop. She's a self absorbed princess who thinks the world revolves around her. She always parks where the bus is supposed to be (even if there are no other cars parked there when she gets to the street). Never mind the safety of the kids. Just as long as she's not inconvenienced. All the other parents will park further down the street if necessary. Not her.
I've dreamed of giving her tire a slow leak, just so she can be inconvenienced on the way to work. :) So if I could have some small paranormal ability, that would be it (because then I wouldn't be caught for the crime and she wouldn't know I did it). :)
Hmm- I can't really think of any crime I would want to commit. Now, if I could steal time, I would do that-- then I could get all the things I need and want to do done.
I'd destroy every countries nuclear weapons. That's definitely a crime but I think I could live with the guilt. The hard part is trying to figure out where to put all the leftover radioactive material...the more I think about this the more certain I am that I would get caught!
Hey Nicole, long time no visit your blog! Nice to "see" you again. Ooo!--I like Mary's idea of stealing time so we can get more done. COOL! Other than that...not doing a bank heist, but somehow siphoning the lottery winnings to my account. LOL I could do a lot of good for myself and others with that money! :)
I guess walking away from your bad mortgage isn't really a 'crime' but many view it as 'immoral.' But I wish I could do it! We scrape pennies together to pay the bills and we've never been late but we've already paid way more than it's worth now:(:(
I'm not Catholic but the guilt would still gnaw at me until there was nothing left.
I stole a pack of Chiclets as a kid and ended up crying and telling on myself. Yeah, guilt-ridden at like 5 years old. About the only thing I might think of stealing is Post it notes from work, then of course I couldn't do that. Darn this guilt!
I'd definitely commit a crime if it didnt hurt anyone and I knew I could get away with it! Just immoral I guess. I would so hit a big bank vault (in the middle of the night) if I could! LOL
Um...yeah. I'm with you. I don't think I could take the guilt of committing a crime. Pretty much any crime would hurt someone in some way, and I would be eaten up by the guilt.
Wow--seriously awesome question. *mulls* It would probably be some 'steal from the rich, give to the poor' thing.
Of course the person I targeted would have to be a terrible, awful person--someone who was a thief themselves and their money were ill-gotten to being with.
I'm a Catholic and would not feel guilty at all about committing tax evasion. The bulk of it is used to send kids to kill kids anyhow, so I maintain jesus would be on my side. ;)

ReplyDeleteWhat a really cool question!
I know I couldn't do it!
ReplyDeleteI grew up around too much crime and know how horrible the effects are on the victims. No one ever truly gets away from a crime unaffected.
ReplyDeleteBut, I'd sure love to rig the Mega Millions :-D
I think it could be fun to be a art thief. Then again, perhaps I've seen the Thomas Crown Affair one too many times.

ReplyDeleteBank heist. Not even a heist so much as wishing I had the Jumper powers, could leap in, get the cash, and get back out. I guess I'm a bad Catholic.

ReplyDeleteI'd steal a billion dollars.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't commit a crime if I tried.
ReplyDeleteYvonne.

Yikes, what a question! I'm not Catholic but I was brought up Baptist, and I'm not sure which is worse when it comes to guilt! :)
