Question of the Week - Doors

What did you sleep with your bedroom door open or closed? What about your closet door?
We sleep with both closed. For some reason, it makes me feel safer. Why I don't know. It's not as if a closed door will keep a killer out.

  1. I slept with the closet door opened and the door to my bedroom closed because I'd swear I saw someone walking across it every night when I was younger. So I still sleep with it closed.

  2. When I was a kid all were closed when I slept- I think more for privacy than anything else. Now, the bedroom door is usually open(so I can hear if I am needed by the child) and the closet door closed (so the cats stay out of the clothes).

  3. I close the closet door and my bedroom door. The bedroom door is closed just so someone going to the bathroom in the middle of the night doesn't wake me up. Of course if my daughter is sick, it stays open.

  4. My bedroom door was always open for two reasons. #1, we had cats and if I closed it, they would scratch to get in, because apparently a closed door is an insult to them. #2, my parents believed that a closed door while sleeping was a fire hazard.

My closet door was usually closed, because otherwise the cats would shed all over my clothes.

Now, the bf and I sleep with the bedroom door closed because we don't have cats and he likes the privacy (His mom lives with us) We close the closet door to avoid wasting the air conditioning.

  5. Closet door however it happens to be when I go to bed (no preference). Bedroom door closed so if the dog needs to go out during the night, she'll cry there where I can hear her instead of downstairs.

  6. I would prefer to sleep with my bedroom door closed, but I can't. The cats have to have access to my room, and they don't like being closed up all night. I'm hoping to one day have a cat door installed, so I can sleep with the door closed but still have the cats come and go.

  7. When I was a kid, the door was always closed. Now, it's open because we have kids. I think, even if I were alone, the door would be open. Back is still to wall, though.

  8. Closet door open would be weird. Used to sleep with bedroom door closed until we got an alarm system. You're right, that wouldn't really stop anyone though.

  10. Interesting question! The closet door can be either way, but these days stays closed because of two naughty cats. The bedroom door has to stay open though, so I can hear what's going on, especially the kids.

  13. Closet door can go either way. We slept with the bedroom door closed until we had kids . . .now we all have our doors open (and must wear pj's now, lol). Now I just have nightmares about who'd I save first if something did happen but now as I'm typing this, I realize I DO have a husband so there should be one for each kid, right? Geez . . . duh;)
