It's great to finally be back to blogging. I took some time off because hubby, the boys, and I went on vacation. I'll give more details about that tomorrow as well as catching up on my blog tour and starting to award prizes for various contests. But for today, it's all about fun and games.
I'm big time into RPGs. Love them! I haven't had much time to play lately (read: no time at all) but that's what I would play.
1. Shining Force - Awesome, awesome game! I played this when I was in grade school and I can't tell you the number of times I've beaten it. To replay an RPG really says something although this game doesn't take as long to beat as most of the others.
2. Diablo - You pick your class - warrior, archer, or mage. I was always a warrior. You travel through a church, catacombs, even Hell to destroy vermin and filth and the devil, to try to rid the world of them. Very addicting, there are more games in this series, and the graphics become ridiculous.
3. FF7 - Who doesn't love the Final Fantasy games if you love RPGs? Although I must confess, I've never beaten this one. I bought the PC version, and there was a glitch and it always froze at one spot. Nearly broke my heart. But the characters are wonderful, the storyline amazing, and I just plain love this game. Out of the series, I've beaten 1, 2, 5, 6, 9, and 10. I also really enjoyed 9.
If I had to pick a game that isn't an RPG, I would add Parchessi to the list. My mom taught me the game when I was little, and I've played it with her and my siblings countless times. Game of chance and yet strategy.
Thanks, Alex, for a really fun blogfest!
Diablo rocks!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the blogfest.
My roommate has been freaking out waiting for Diablo III for YEARS. I've never played it, but I imagine I probably will once the new one comes out.
ReplyDeleteShining Force was the very first video game RPG I played. I love it! :) I love the Final Fantasy series, too. The stories are amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! I also put parcheesi on my list! And I'm a fan of RPG's, though as of late I haven't really played a whole lot of them.
ReplyDeleteLove the design of your site! Very nice. I am going to have to check it out in detail now.
ReplyDeleteCame by from the Fun and Games Blogfest!
These games sound fun. Love your blog. =)
ReplyDeletePoetry, Quotes and Book Reviews.
I'm not a RPG-er. These always look fun... I tend to stick to card and board games ~ :)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check out Diablo. Funny. I already thought I was a follower but didn't see that I was listed. I am now. :)
ReplyDeleteLove Diablo! I used to play it all the time with my brother. He would be a mage and I was a warrior or archer, depending on my mood.
ReplyDeleteThis was our strategy--I go in punching and kicking at everything in sight, Brother stands back and casts spells in an effort to keep me alive. :D
I've never played a RPG--a lot of people seem to have fun with them, though. :D
ReplyDeleteThose look like fun. I'll have to look into acquiring Diablo.
ReplyDeleteI've never done RPG games but everyone I know who does them encourages me to give them a try. You're the first writer I visited for the fest today who didn't say scrabble. LOL
ReplyDeleteDon't know why I've never gotten into RPGs. Go figure, coming from a pseudonym. But your list, these sound COOL! Hummmmm.
ReplyDeleteBTW, GREAT looking blog. Love it.
I haven't played an RPG since D & D...and I'm afraid to start, because I'm pretty sure I'd become an addict eventually!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad to say that I've not done any of these... I feel like I lost out in game world. What are you gonna do! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteMy boys were crazy about FF, but my hubby and prefer ones like Gauntlet, Baldurs Gate, and Champions of Norrath.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteThanks ever so for dropping by my blog.
I'm not familiar with any of these games, but they look like fun.:)
best

Can't say I know anything about these games, but it is nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteIf I played RPG's, Final Fantasy would be one of them. And maybe Diablo. They both just look so cool!
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to learn how to play parcheesi forever, too. Maybe one day....
I have not played any of those games but they look like fun.
ReplyDeleteDon't you hate when you buy something with a glitch like that? So frustrating!
ReplyDeleteThese sound like fun games!
omg omg! OMG!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that first picture and FREAKED THE HELL OUT!!!
We have played Shining Force so many times we have literally lost count. We STILL play it to this day, and have conversations about epic battles and the time when two of our characters made it past the lazer eye when everyone else died and saved the whole game.
oh man, i totally need to go play it right now!
Yes, loved Diablo and the FFs. Never played Shining Force though. Thanks for educating me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't played any of these games because I don't have an X Box or Playstation or Wii. I know I know, I need to get one. Its on my To Do List. But these games sound like a lot of fun to play!
ReplyDeleteMr. G loved the FF film. I wonder if I could tempt him into playing the games?
ReplyDeleteGreat choices!
Ellie Garratt
Diablo (well, Diablo II) is in my top 3 as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm not really playing games at the moment, but when Diablo III comes out, I know I'll be there! :-)
Very funny and interesting, but I like more traditional games where movement and movement is essential. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteI don't know any of these. I avoid video games as a general rule. Too addicting!
ReplyDeleteNever played Final Fantasy - I was stuck with just an Atari until 1991!
ReplyDeleteOK I clearly have to get into RPGs now and I'm also starting to take an interest in sci-fi/fantasy fiction. Not sure where I found Alex J Cavanaugh but he's leading me to interesting places! Good to connect.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE diablo. I'm so looking forward to the release of Diablo 3
ReplyDeleteI've never played any RPG games and have never heard of any of these. Must be fun though.

All these games are alien to me...he he he...:)
ReplyDeleteBut it is nice knowing all these games Nicole through Alex' fun games!
Happy bloghopping!
And thanks for coming by!

'Game of chance, and yet strategy.'
ReplyDeleteI really like that.
never played any of these, but jiminey! all these rpgs sound crazy fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI love and have played all those games! YOU ARE MY KINDA GAL! Consider me a new acolyte!
ReplyDeleteSo very nice to meet you. And, yes, Aion and League of Legends are games you would ABSOLUTELY adore! :D
I have friends who have a happy addiction to Diablo. I'm afraid to play - I can while away the hours at the computer!
ReplyDeleteI've never played any of these games. They sound great fun but if I'm honest I prefer those old retro 'when I was a kid' games that I blogged about.
ReplyDeleteYeah, these are foreign to me as well ... the only computer game I'm familiar with involves a little dot bouncing back and forth on my tv screen ... but what you play as a kid stays with you!
ReplyDeleteYes! Somebody else picked Final Fantasy VII. It's a great game and has a good ending. you should try to get a working version, but the game is pricey nowadays.
ReplyDeleteShining Force also is and excellent RPG. Although I don't have time to play them anymore, too, I love RPG video games over others because of their stories.
I don't know these games, but they look fun! Hope you had a good vacation!
ReplyDeleteYou won Delirium. Please send me your address to bethfred08 (at) gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy son is more into RPG's. I love watching him play. I am more of a puzzle type or funny games like Raving Rabbids from Wii. They sure have out done games since I was little and they came out with ping pong for your tv. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSue B
Those games sound like a lot of fun! It's nice that your sons aren't old enough to torture you with endless games of "Tiny Wings" or "Angry Birds." My sons are obsessed!
ReplyDeleteI've never played RPG's, unless Donkey Kong Country counts. But I've watched plenty of them, my boys and hubby love them. They also love to play D&D and other Role Playing games. I love listening to them. It sounds like you have a fun list. I've only played Parcheesi once, it was great, I should get that one, I think it would be a fun family game. Gorgeous blog, by the way.
ReplyDeleteHey, I'm going to shove several things off my plate this summer and FINALLY get started on my first ever RPG. :) KOTOR, so not quite fantasy, but perhaps this is just the beginning...
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to get to see what you enjoy, and I'm so happy to be back looking at your beatiful, beautiful graphics here. Still the most gorgeous blog I've come across.
I actually don't play any of these fantasy games but they sound fun! My hubby played some war computer RPG for a while but gave it up becase it took up too much time! It started with an E! I can't remember the name.
ReplyDeleteNice pics. I know what it's like to have no time for blogging. I had full time classes and work. Real life gets in the way of blogging.

ReplyDeleteI think you'll love to discover my pics there :

Wow, look at all your comments! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI got really into Starcraft: a sci fi war game. But my all time favorite is Scrabble.
I think I played Parcheesi a few times.
Great list there! FF7 and Diablo do really eat up my time making me play ungodly hours. :-) buy aion accounts
