I love to read. I'm the queen of reading. And I sometimes read more than one book at a time. Currently, I'm reading The Lightning Thief, The Hunger Games, and Dead Until Dark.
I won a contest - a B&N gift card! I'm so stoked that I'm already picking which books to buy: Personal Demons, Firelight, and Paranormalcy. But, depending on the price, I might be able to get 3 more.
So, any of you reading a good book you think I might like? What was your favorite book of 2010?
I LOVED The Hunger Games. Read all of them. I'm currently reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for book club.
ReplyDeleteRead all 3 of those, and they are awesome! I'm reading book 4 of the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and the 2nd book in the Sword of Truth/Legend of the Seeker series by Terry Goodkind.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I'm super jealous of your book $$$...LOL.
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite books of 2010 were The Dark Divine by Bree Despain and Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick. I'm currently reading The Iron King by Julie Kagawa and LOVING every minute!
Ooh, there's so many. (BTW...how's the Hungry Games treating you? I started the first one but stopped. I have the first two. I think I should give it another try.) Um...Read Paranormalcy (yay!!), Shadow Hills, the first four Vampire Diaries. Currently, I'm reading The Water Wars. It's not out until later this month, but it's really good. If you're looking for a good adult paranormal read, Dying Light was good.
ReplyDeleteFavorite book was Fever Dreams by Preston & Child. Right now I'm reading a writing by by Orson Scott Card.
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of favorites. I can't pick just one.
ReplyDeleteAsking me to pick a favorite book is like asking a mother to pick her favorite child. *laughs*
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick one book I thought was exceptionally well-written, exciting, and I can't wait to read the next book in the series, I'd have to go with THE HOLLOWS: THE TICKING by Ben Larken.
As for what I'm currently reading, I'm reading THE KNOT ARTIST by India Wilson. It's also very well-written, but it's completely different from what I normally read. It's become a very good book so far, though.
I've been winning books from other authors. Way cool! I am currently reading Why I left the Amish by Saloma Miller Furlong. This is shocking. I don't usually read memoirs but I must say, not only is it well written but it leaves me thankful for my difficult life. I don't believe I'll ever feel sorry for myself again.
ReplyDeleteThe other book I'm reading and highly recommend to all you writers out there is; 20 Master Plots and how to build them by Ronald B. Tobias. I've read several books on "plot" this one is great.
Nancy
N. R. Williams, fantasy author
I can't choose a favorite! I read too many great books. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your win!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to use my Hastings gift card and on what books from Christmas. Oh the joy of book buying!
Congrats on your GC win!
ReplyDeleteMan, I can only read one book at a time (except research/nonfiction I can read while reading fiction). I just finished Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter (good)...next up I'm reading/critiquing a novel for one of my CPs over the weekend.
Have a lovely weekend, Nicole.
Hugs,
Lola
Wow... what a great lineup of books! I wish I could take a month off and just read. Last year I did so many beta swaps that I read mostly unpubbed mss. But it was fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to read Hungr Games very soon.
Hm, favourite of 2010? It's a tossup between JC Marino's Dante's Journey and Alden Bell's The Reapers Are the Angels; both of them surprised me with how awesome they were :)
ReplyDeleteI recommend the Patrick Ness "Chaos Walking" trilogy. I read the last book, "monsters of men" and it was kick ass.
congrats! And well, I liked The Help... I finished Shiver and can't decide. You might enjoy it... ? All the best~
ReplyDeleteI always love Jim Butchers Dresden files.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading the The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. Enjoying it a lot so far. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Hunger Games, but I have read the other two. I just picked up a book called The Gargoyle and it's really different. And I'm completely hooked....
ReplyDeleteYay for winning the B & N gift card! Happy shopping!!!
I’m actually reading a few books right now. On the fiction front I’m reading Sin and Scandal in England by Melody Thomas, Goodnight Tweetheart by Teresa Medeiros and Mystic Guardian by Patricia Rice. I’m also reading a non-fiction book Called 45 Master Characters by Victoria Lynn Schmidt.
ReplyDeleteAs for the best book of 2010, I’d have to say it was The Time Weaver by Shana Abe.
Have fun on your shopping spree Nicole!
I loved 'Shade' by Jeri Smith Ready. I really liked 'Matched'. I was a little dissapointed in the plot (you can tell it's the first in the series. I just hope they're saving the good stuff for later) however the characters really stay with you. OH and 'Anna and the French Kiss' was awesome! Have fun!
