Gearing Up for Nano

It's almost November. I can't wait for Nano. In a way it's sad that I'm waiting until November 1st to get back to serious writing but I am always so inspired by Nano that November is always my most productive month by far.

Between Nano and PiBo, I am going to be really busy next month. As a result, I probably won't be visiting as many blogs as I normally do. I apologize in advance for that. I also will not promise long blog posts, although I will try to continue to blog every M-F. We'll see how that goes though, so I make no promises about that either.

I also want to make a writer's pledge. Starting November 1st, I am going to make writing and my writing career a higher priority in my life. I want to be an author, to have my books for sale at Barnes and Noble. I know I can make my dream a reality. It's about time that I do everything in my power to make it actually happen. So I am not going to make excuses. I'm not going to waste time playing fb games. I will work on furthering my career. That is my goal, my aim, my mission. Writing has been such a large part of my life, it's about time that I take the next step.

I will write/edit/polish Champion of Valor and finish it before the end of the year.

I will rewrite Alexia's Pen and start querying before the end of the year.

I will send out queries for Hidden in Shadows.

I will find an agent.

And I will get published with an NYC publisher.

Anyone else want to make a writer's pledge?

  3. Oh, I'm totally up for a pledge!- 'on my honor i will try to serve my stories to the best of my ability. To write without clichés, grammatical errors, too much description or backstory... I will make a monumental effort to get my manuscripts out to agents only when they are at their very best- to give them the best chance possible at life.':)

  4. I do believe in that pledge. After I went to the JRW Conference, I realized this is what I want to do. I will revise and edit my novels no matter how many times they take to make them ready to send to agents. I will be willing to rework old short stories, so they can find homes. I will not sell my writing short and try for the best first. I will go into my writing with as much knowledge as possible, so the creativity can take it and run with it.

But do I really have to give up Farmville and Frontierville completely? *laughs* Everyone needs a little downtime. *grins* I have seriously cut down on the FB games, though.

  5. Nicole, best of luck with Nano!

My writer's pledge at this point is to move away from lists and toward submitting stories again, getting out and about farther to help spread my name.

I believe you will honor your pledge. :-)

  16. Those are all excellent goals, Nicole! I get a lot more done when I take my writing seriously. It can't always be at the top of my priority list, but I try to keep it up there.

I have a goal to get this manuscript completely done and off to my agent by January 1st. It is a totally acheivable goal, so I'm not going to let it slide!
