I woke up this morning to a wonderful email - an acceptance from Pill Hill Press for a short (A New Magical Earth) in their Daily Flash anthology. It's a for the love of market but the exposure has to be good. Plus the flash piece only took me about a half hour to submit, edit down to under 500 words, and submit.
Other than that flash piece, my muse has been on vacation. Which is fine with me, after all I wrote 56k in 6 weeks to finish up Torn Between Murder and Love. But June it'll be back to the grind, I have several ideas that I want to get started on.
In the mean time, I'm getting ready for the Lori Foster Reader and Writer Get Together. I have so much to do yet and the conference is next week already! I'm really excited about going.
How are you all doing with your writing? Is your muse cooperating or giving you a hard time? I would love to hear about your latest WIP!
Congrats on the acceptance!
ReplyDeleteAnd, after writing all that in the past six weeks, I think you deserve a little vacation!
I'm slowly working on a short story for the Raven and the Writing Desk blog for June, and I'm editing a lot. I'd like to get back to some WIP, but the editing for what I already have should come first before I end up with another novel that needs edits. *laughs*
Congrats again!
Congrats on the acceptance! Pill Hill seems like one of those markets where the exposure will at least be good, even without comp. :)
ReplyDeleteI also like the new look of the blog (though maybe it's not that new, since I've been reading your posts through RSS lately without clicking through... sorry!).
As for my own stuff, muse wouldn't cooperate on my edits OR the WIP I'm supposed to be working on, so I decided to give her a break and write something completely new... just for fun, without a target or anything. It's my own exploration into satirical paranormal. I know, everyone's doing paranormal, but I figure... this one's just for me and likely won't ever see the light of day, so I'm going to just write and have fun with it!
I can understand wanting to push off edits, Cherie! Writing's definitely my favorite part in the whole process.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm hoping for, Faith, that the exposure will boost sales. And I changed my blog background not that long ago. :) Sometimes taking a break and writing just for yourself relieves any pressure you might be feeling, and can jumpstart your other projects. Or at least, that's what happens to me!
Congrats on your acceptance! Pill Hill is a fussy market if you ask me. So that's quite an accomplishment :)
ReplyDeleteWow- that's great! And have fun at Lori Foster's event you big shot writer ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Aubrie! I've had I think two stories rejected by them so it was nice to finally receive an acceptance.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ava! I'll definitely have fun. I just hope I don't forget to bring my camera!
